Connie and CarlaI have a thing for "drag queen" comedies, and here we have Nia Vardalos and Toni Collete playing women pretending to be men who are drag queens. If you've seen the ads, you know that visually, these 2 women pull off the look (In fact, it's absolutely uncanny how it looks exactly like a picture of Toni in drag on the BACK jacket of "Girls will be Girls" which I'll be watching this weekend on DVD -- and THAT's a real guy in drag.) Connie (Nia) and Carla (Toni) are struggling airport lounge singers who go on the run after witnessing a murder. They flee to Los Angeles, and soon are performing as a drag act under the name. . .Connie and Carla. (Really helpful to the bad guys trying to find and kill them. ) The fact that they do their own singing instead of the usual lip-synching soon gains them a following. Meanwhile Connie meets Jeff (David Duchovny) and is smitten, though he, of course, thinks she's a man. All kinds of sitcom level, overblown comedic acting follows, with a shot of poignancy in the form of Jeff embracing his long-lost transvestite brother. All quite cliche and unoriginal, but kind of entertaining in a very silly way. Grade: C- [ This message was edited by: EPlayer on 2004-04-17 21:11 ]

One Hour Photo - 8.5/10 Finally took this off the shelf and gave it a look and I'm glad that I did. A very good film with a masterfully subtle performance from Robin Williams.

I can agree totally with your rating, I loved this movie to a certain level. The image of Williams standing in front of that wall filled with pictures was fabulous ----------------- From now till kingdom come... the only thing you can count on... in your existence... is never understanding why.

I love this movie too. My favorite indie film hands down!!
Hellboy 8/10 What a badass movie!! It was funny and tight. This movie had a perfect mix of everything at once. Not quite the crowd pleaser overall as some people can't enjoy a movie for what it's worth. Either way, one of my favorite comic flicks to date.
50 First Dates 6/10 Eh. It was eh. I did laugh, but it wasn't at main characters. I laughed at Sean Astin and Rob Schneider (a first) The story was ok. This movie did have potential to be pretty good. Not amazing, but just good. The problem was, the production was just terrible. Lazy and insufficient. The end was stupid and sad.

Gary Sinise is good in this movie, as he always is in my opinion. But he shoulda passes this one on, since it is below his talent.
A few nice plot changes here and there, mostly on the end.
The rest of the movie is pretty empty, as I said the plot twist on the end takes you by suprise.
I would give the movie a 6 on 10 if it was not for the recycled footage of 2 movies at least. In the beginning dialogue there are scenes from Armageddon, where the meteor's are supposed to present rockets. I mean you can even see the gaping hole in Paris from the last impact in Armageddon. Then the army presented in the opening shots is clearly nothing more then taken from Starship Troopers.
Rumours on IMDB even claim that they used stuff from Gatacca and Apollo 13, those I was unable to spot. That just totally took the movie 2 ratings down for me, and It felt pretty cheap. If you're a Sinise fan like I am, I can only say avoid this movie at all costs. But if you want to see a failed B-scifi movie then go ahead.
Don't say I didn't warn you.

I completely agree with that, I hated the ending. I also hated Sean Astin, but then I always do. Touching The Void - 8/10 A well made and engrossing film about a mountaineering story that's become legendary. It's an amazing story and it defies belief but it all happened and the guys are there to prove it. The only reason that I didn't score it even higher was because I'd seen documentaries on it before and therefore it's impact was lessened. Starsky & Hutch - 3/10 One laugh and a couple of sniggers aren't enough for a comedy but that's all this one gave me. I was suprised that Owen Wilson didn't annoy me as much as he usually does though, but that's not worth an extra point. ----------------- I often wonder how I'm going to die. Sliding Doors :
Rating : 7,5 / 10
I adored this movie more then I thought I would. A romantic drama with some comedy in it, I thought ok this will get an average rating. Until the movie starts, and the sliding doors provide you with 2 stories. One where Helen makes the train, and one where she doesn't. The 2 stories hop from one to the other during the whole movie till they reach a climax at the end. In the beginning this might be a little confusing, but just be open for it and I'll garentee that you love it. John Hannah is so amazing in his movie, I never really knew him outside The Mummy and I must say I'm pleasently suprised.

I don't like Stiller or Wilson so this was always going to be hard going for me. But even though I wasn't expecting much I was suprised at just how unfunny I found this, which was a shame. ----------------- I often wonder how I'm going to die. You don't want to embarrass friends.

Zoolander
0,5 / 10
Totally retarted movie, only positive thing on it was David Duchovny's appearence.
Lots of celebs in it, but not good enough to make it even remotelly funny.
Avoid avoid and even more .. avoid.

hhahaha! I love Zoolander. I guess it's just one of those "in the mood" movies. I love how it makes fun of itself and the subject ti covers. Genius! My rate 7/10

I am actually mad at myself for throwing 90 mins of my time away. But I suppose we can agree to disagree in opinions. Not gonna watch it again. EVER. ----------------- From now till kingdom come... the only thing you can count on... in your existence... is never understanding why.

I gotta go with wd on this one.. I liked Zoolander. Totally stupid, but hilarious at the same time. Its just one of those movies where you can turn you mind off and laugh at the idiocy.

I certainly think there's an element of that HH. Whilst I do know a few people that think that Stiller is a riot, most of my friends think that the guy's completely unfunny. The same's true of Adam Sandler but to a lesser extent.

But then again, I can dig Sandler. I think he's awesome.
And I've seen good things of Stiller and Owen, just not this movie.
