Life has been pretty hard for the wife and I recently. My wife was laid off at the beginning of the month and hasn't been able to find any work. Last night I got into an accident and demolished my car.
I don't need any pity, but some good thoughts for us would be highly appreciated at this time! Pray or do whatever it is you do if you don't mind to try and help us get through this especially hard time.
I hope everyone else is doing very well and Happy Christmas to all!

Hey thanks for caring Deb! And EP! And HK! Things are a little better. My wife did find some work. Not a dream job, nor does it pay very well at all, but it's work and our bills are still being paid. I got my car back and went to court for my accident. Got busted for Careless Driving, which carried a hefty enough price tag. But that's over, so, thank goodness. Other than scrimping and cutting back on the essentials (READ: groceries) we are still doing ok. Thanks for asking, and thanks for the good thoughts. I hope the holidays (if you observe them) treated you all and your families well! How about a shot all around on me? To good health and fortune this year! ----------------- Hello, fellow American. Wow, that's terrible. I'm so sorry, wd. I hope she finds something soon.
Everything going on has made me appreciate the fact that I have a job. I haven't always been happy there, but I know I now pause and think whenever I feel dissatisfied.

Thanks everyone!
Our biggest issue now is that unemployment has screwed us over. Apparently, Colorado law verifies eligibility from the employer from 18 months ago. Since my wife left that company on good terms to work for a company much closer to home, she is disqualified. It's utter bullshit and has really screwed us over big time.

So you don't get unemployment just for being unemployed? That's ridiculous.

I hope things are better for you. Its been a while since someone asked so, I thought I would. I hear ya on the job factor though. Been out of work, more or less since January. John started his own company so do some work for him but, I don't get paid money...wink wink.
My summer job is started up so will be working lots in July.

Thanks for asking. The wife got a dream job at a bakery. It pays much, much less than her previous work, but it's a bit more stable and makes her very happy, so it's worth it. Honestly, for a bakery it pays very well, and there is tons of overtime and they aggressively give raises, so that's a positive.
I have a new bit of shitty information, but it's been something I have been dealing with for a few months now, so I have come to terms with it. My bathroom, after 5 years, started falling apart. That's right. A new house's bathroom started leaking all over. I started to get into the problem and oh boy was there a ton of damage. wood rot and mold and mildew everywhere. So since March I have been slowly remodeling and fixing the poor worksmanship of the builders. It's getting there. If it weren't for the HUGE tax return we got, we'd be screwed.
Life has been hard, but we are getting through it. I hope everyone else is going well though. Good luck Kathleen! Sounds like things might be looking up a bit.
