I do not really care what NBC does as long as they renew "Chuck" for at least another year past this upcoming one and move the "Jay Leno Show" to 11 or later each day or have it only air on the weekends.

Ashley Tisdale has been tapped to produce her own TV series. The 24-year-old High School Musical actress has signed a deal with RelativityReal to produce her own show through her two-year-old company Blonde Girl Productions. A spokesperson for RelativityReal said that Tisdale stands out from her peers because she is "the very definition of a multitalented artist with unique insight into young demographics". Tisdale previously produced the 2008 film Picture This.

Dawson's Creek alum James Van Der Beek has joined the cast of NBC medical drama Mercy. The 32-year-old will take on the major recurring role of Dr Liam Wes, says Entertainment Weekly. The character is described as a cocky and manipulative hospital ICU chief who is hiding a dark secret. Van Der Beek also had a recurring role on The CW's One Tree Hill. NBC recently picked up Mercy for a full season.

Four actors have joined the cast of TV Land comedy pilot Retired at 35. Jonathan McClain, Casey Wilson, Jessica Walter and Christine Ebersole will star alongside the previously cast George Segal, says The Hollywood Reporter. The project centeres on a young businessman named David (McClain) who decides to move into his father Alan's (Segal) retirement home in Florida. Saturday Night Live alum Wilson has been cast as David's sister. Former Arrested Development star Walter is to play his mother and Ebersole will portray Alan's love interest. Actors Josh McDermott and Ryan Michelle Bathe will also be featured. Retired is one of TV Land's first forays into original scripted programming.

Luke Wilson and Diane Ladd have been cast in HBO pilot Enlightened. The actors are to star opposite Laura Dern in writer-producer Mike White's comedy project, says The Hollywood Reporter. Amy Hill has also been cast as a regular and Charles Esten has joined on a recurring basis. The pilot stars Dern as Amy, a self-destructive woman whose life is turned around after a spiritual awakening. Wilson is to play Levi, Amy's drug-addicted ex-husband. Ladd, who is Dern's real-life mother, will play Amy's mum. Hill has been cast as the head of human resources at Amy's job, and Esten plays Amy's former boss and lover.

Michael Cera has said that he has mixed feelings about plans to make an Arrested Development movie. The actor played teenager George Michael in the Fox sitcom, which was cancelled after three seasons in 2006, and has since agreed to star in a full-length cinema return. Cera told Parade: "I have mixed feelings about bringing the series to the big screen. I think it was good to leave on a high note and leave fans wanting more. "If you take that chance and make a movie and it doesn’t measure up to expectations, then everyone will be like, 'They pushed their luck'. "But, it's going to happen. Mitchell Hurwitz is finally starting to write the script. I think it's kind of something he should take his time on." Of playing nerdy characters, he added: "I can be a little geeky myself, but hopefully less inept than some of the kids I've portrayed in movies. "I will say that if you compared me with all my ex-girlfriends, as to who's more attractive, it's always them."

NBC has picked up Adam Carolla comedy pilot, says The Hollywood Reporter. The untitled single-camera project sees the writer-turned-radio host play a contractor who begins rebuilding his life following a divorce. Kevin Hench, who worked on The Man Show and Too Late With Adam Carolla is on board to co-write material, marking the second consecutive comedy pilot for the duo. Last year, Carolla and Hench teamed with Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun for the ill-fated CBS pilot Ace In The Hole.

Heroes has more viewers through illegal downloads than via television, a report has claimed. According to TorrentFreak, the number of downloads on BitTorrent - around 6,580,000 - exceeded the average viewership - an estimated 5,900,000 - on US television in 2009. With these figures in mind, Heroes has topped the list as the most-pirated show of 2009, Lost being a close second. Prison Break, Dexter and House make up the top five, with 24 and Desperate Housewives just outside. The top ten is rounded off with Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Grey's Anatomy and True Blood. Showtime's Dexter joins Heroes as the only other show to receive more viewers via illegal downloads.

The Wire actor Pablo Schreiber has been cast in FX's upcoming drama series Lights Out. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 31-year-old - Nick Sobotka on the HBO show - has joined the Holt McCallany-fronted project as a series regular. Lights revolves around former heavyweight boxing champion Patrick 'Lights' Leary, who is struggling to support his family. Melora Hardin is also on board as the female lead. Most of the show's original cast - including Eliza Dushku, Tahmoh Penikett, Olivia Williams, Harry Lennix, Fran Kranz, Enver Gjokaj and Dichen Lachman - are returning for the finale, with several guest stars also confirmed. Fox announced late last year that it would not be renewing the Joss Whedon project. The series bows out later this month follow two 13-episode series.

Amber Riley has revealed plans to pursue a music career when Glee finishes. The 23-year-old actress, who stars as Mercedes Jones on the Fox series, said that she has always dreamed of being a singer. Referring to a potential career as a recording artist, she told Digital Spy: "Yeah, that's the plan! That's been the plan since I've been - well, I wanted to record an album when I was like 5. "I've always loved singing and acting equally and I was like, 'Well, whichever one takes off first, I'm sure the other one will follow!' It's cool because I get to do both and I love them both equally - I can't even pick one!" Riley went on to admit that she wasn't part of a glee club at high school, but that she would "definitely" join one if she were back in school.

Sharon Stone has signed to appear in NBC's Law & Order: SVU for a four-episode arc. The Basic Instinct star will play a police officer-turned-attorney on the long-running crime procedural, reports Entertainment Weekly. "It is obviously a thrill and a delight to have a star of Sharon's wattage and importance joining SVU," said producer Dick Wolf. Stone, 51, won an Emmy for a guest stint on The Practice. Her SVU run starts in April.

Tim Gunn has revealed that he is "seriously worried" for those competing in the latest season of Project Runway. According to People, the fashion icon has developed a new catchphrase to reflect his unease, replacing "make it work" with "recalibrate your ambitions". One clip of the new season shows New York-based costume designer Emilio Sosa way behind on his garment. Gunn warns him: "We've never had anyone in the whole history of the show just not finish - ever." The star added that he is thrilled with the contestants' ambition, but that he is "seriously worried" about their progress based on the time remaining in the challenge.

*I included that last piece of 'news' just for the catchphrase. If someone told me to "make it work", I'd go with it. Especially if I was in the fashion industry. But if someone told me to "recalibrate your ambitions" in any line of work, I think I may have to punch them... Hard.

Fox is reportedly worried about its Human Target premiere after a last-minute scheduling change. The network had originally planned to air the series opener of the DC Comics-inspired show Sunday, January 17 after a late afternoon NFL lead-in. However, when NFL announced its postseason TV schedule recently, it emerged that Fox's game would air earlier in the 1pm slot, with CBS bagging the late 4.30pm game. According to Variety, Fox still plans to broadcast the Mark Valley-fronted Target next Sunday, with a two-hour premiere of 24 following at 9pm. The final hour from last season's 24 will now serve as a lead-in to Target.

David Tennant's final episode of Doctor Who reportedly attracted over one million viewers to BBC America. The initial Saturday evening broadcast of 'The End Of Time, Part Two', which was also the last episode from showrunner Russell T. Davies, averaged an audience of 1.02 million, TVbytheNumbers reports. A second and third telecast pushed the figure to a total of 1.47 million. This exceeded the 1.1 million recorded for the three airings of 'Waters Of Mars' last month. Senior vice president of BBC America Richard De Croce had previously confirmed that both parts of Tennant's final episodes would be shown a day after their UK premiere to capitalise on the public's anticipation.

The executive producers of Lost have admitted that there are some episodes that they wish they'd never written. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Damon Lindelof described past episodes of the show as "s**tty". "Look, it would be nice to look back and say, 'We love every episode of Lost and every episode turned out the way we wanted it to'. There are s**tty episodes of Lost that we wish we had never written. "But had we not written them we would be in a different situation now, because we ran out of ideas, we stalled, then the network realised what we had been saying from early on - that Lost needed an end date. "And now here we are six years later on broadcast with a show that is - not what it once was - but still performing, and we're ending it on our own terms because we had shitty episodes." Lost returns for its final season Tuesday, February 2 on ABC.

The executive producers of Lost have hinted that season six may not mark the end of the franchise. Damon Lindelof told The Hollywood Reporter that while the "definitive edition" ends in May, he believes that a sequel could happen at some point in the future. "The definitive edition of Lost ends this May on ABC, and that is the story that we have to tell," he said. "It has a beginning, middle and end. "That ending will not have cliffhangers, or be set up in such a way that people will be saying, 'Clearly they're going to make more of these'. We don't have any connection to another TV series or movie, but there's a new A-Team movie coming out, for God's sake." Carlton Cuse added: "The Walt Disney Co. owns Lost. It's a franchise that's conservatively worth billions of dollars. It's hard to imagine Lost will rest on the shelves and nothing will ever be made with Lost. "Eventually somebody will make something under the moniker of Lost - whether we do it or not. We just made a commitment to this group of characters whose stories are coming to a conclusion this May."

ABC has launched an interactive rose ceremony game in conjunction with the new season of The Bachelor: On The Wings Of Love. The 14th instalment of the romance reality show premiered this week as airline pilot Jake Pavelka began his search for love among 25 hopeful bachelorettes. The interactive game allows fans to go online and choose who they think Pavelka will give roses to each week. Points are also available if the players correctly pick who will get the first rose of the evening and the order the roses are handed out. The player with the highest score will win a trip for two to the luxurious Jalousie Plantation in St. Lucia, while each week's top scorers will receive special Bachelor gift bags. Fans can also watch episodes of the show with expert commentary online the day after they are broadcast. The first episode features Bachelorette star Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski, while the second features host Chris Harrison. The Bachelor airs Monday nights on ABC.

I like Mark Valley and everything, but the ads for "Human Target" just don't look very good. Still deciding if I'll give it a look.

There are s**tty episodes of Lost that we wish we had never written. "But had we not written them we would be in a different situation now, because we ran out of ideas, we stalled, then the network realised what we had been saying from early on - that Lost needed an end date.

Bah. They have been saying this for a couple of seasons now, so I am not surprised to hear it again.

"And now here we are six years later on broadcast with a show that is - not what it once was - but still performing, and we're ending it on our own terms because we had shitty episodes."

What in the world does this mean? "not what it once was"??? Do they mean they aren't happy with the show's overall progress?

I guess they're saying that the show's peaked (which is understandable seeing as it's in its 7th(?) season) but is still worth watching. Not really sure about the shitty episodes bit though. I can't think of a programme that's run that long that didn't have some poor episodes.

David Hasselhoff has quit America's Got Talent after four seasons on the show's judging panel. The former Baywatch actor announced that he had decided to leave the NBC reality contest in order to concentrate on a new TV project. In a statement released to People, Hasselhoff explained: "I am proud that I was part of making America's Got Talent the number one rated show for the past four summers. It's been a rewarding experience and now I'm thrilled to be able to follow my dream to do my own TV show, which will be announced very shortly." Show sources have reportedly indicated that a replacement will now be sought to join panellists Sharon Osbourne and Piers Morgan when the programme's fifth season launches in the summer. A spokesperson for NBC said: "David's been an integral part of the success of America's Got Talent and we are sad to see him go. We wish him all the best with his new show."

ABC has bought comedy show pitches from Carlos Mencia and Cedric The Entertainer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mencia's sitcom will be based on his life and centre on a man living with a large ethnic family. Cedric's series will feature the comedian as a retired athlete-turned-radio host whose existence is changed when his son and granddaughter re-enter his life. ABC also recently picked up pitches by comedian Danny Wallace and former Man Show host Adam Carolla.

Alan Ball has revealed details of an upcoming gay storyline on True Blood. It was recently announced that Southland star Kevin Alejandro has signed up for a guest stint on the HBO series as Jesus, a love interest for Nelsan Ellis's Lafayette. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Ball teased that Jesus may have ulterior motives for moving to Bon Temps. "Lafayette, for all his fierceness, has built a big wall around his heart and is not particularly inclined to be emotionally vulnerable," he said. "Jesus is going to try his best to knock that wall down. But there is a bigger and more dangerous reason Jesus is drawn to Bon Temps, one that will be revealed over time."

The producers of House are apparently considering airing a new wedding plot on the show. The season five finale saw Cameron and Chase - played by Jennifer Morrison and Jesse Spencer respectively - tie the knot, and producers are reportedly toying with the idea of another pair of characters getting hitched. According to Entertainment Weekly, a marriage proposal will feature in the second half of the drama's sixth season, which currently airs Monday nights on Fox. Cuddy and Lucas are currently the only couple on the show following Thirteen and Foreman's breakup last year and Jennifer Morrison's departure from the series, which marked the end of Cameron and Chase's marriage.

Life Unexpected will preview online a week before its debut on The CW, it has been announced. Beginning Monday, January 11, the Brittany Robertson-fronted series will go out as a ten-minute extended preview across all official CW fan pages, including Facebook. The series, which also stars Shiri Appleby, Kristoffer Polaha and former Dawson's Creek star Kerr Smith, centres around Robertson's Lux, a teen who is seeking emancipation from her birth parents. Unexpected will premiere on US television Monday, January 18 at 9pm on The CW.

The season six premiere of Lost may be pushed back after a potential clash with President Barack Obama's State of the Union address. The White House is said to be considering either Tuesday, January 26 or Tuesday, February 2 - the night of ABC's two-hour premiere - for the speech. If the second date is selected, ABC may be forced to delay Lost until February 9. The White House has refused to comment on the scheduling matter.

How I Met Your Mother star Alyson Hannigan has said that it is "amazing" the show is about to celebrate its 100th episode. The milestone episode will be marked with a special musical tribute, where the cast sing and dance to a track called 'Nothing Suits Me Like A Suit'. The musical outburst is reportedly triggered as Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) attempts to choose between Karina (Stacey Keiber) and his suit. Speaking to ET Online at last night's People's Choice Awards, Hannigan said: "It's amazing. It seems like just yesterday that we were doing the pilot and going, 'Are we going to get picked up or not?!' I can't believe it's been so long!" Hannigan scooped the 'Favourite TV Comedy Actress' gong at the ceremony in Los Angeles. The 100th episode of How I Met Your Mother airs January 11 on CBS.

Heroes actor Greg Grunberg has hinted that the series will be back for a fifth season. According to Entertainment Weekly, the star, who plays Matt Parkman on the NBC drama, spoke about the show's fortunes at the People's Choice Awards last night. He said: "We wrapped yesterday and the is nowhere near a series finale. It is cliffhanger-y and exciting, but it is nowhere near an end to a series that people are so invested in. "It does not tie everything up in a neat bow... I don't have any doubt that the show will be back." Reports last year suggested that Heroes would not return for a fourth run.

I am fine with whatever they do. If they do have it on the same day I would watch Lost rather than the Address but no matter. What I think the writer's of Lost were trying to say is yes they have had bad episodes and some of that was because they did not have an idea on when the show was going to end. They lost some energy but after they knew that it would only be six seasons they picked it back up so don't go yelling at them again for that. I think season 5 was almost as good as season 1. So many questions they answered and really really makes me want to watch season 6 like yesterday. :-D

Jay Leno will return to his old 11.30pm ET timeslot after NBC's coverage of the Winter Olympics ends, reports TMZ. The Jay Leno Show is to go on hiatus on February 1. The primetime talkshow will then move to late-night following the Olympics. NBC has not made an official announcement concerning the Leno timeslot shift. It's still unclear if the hour-long show will return in a different incarnation. Also unclear is Tonight Show host Conan O'Brien's future with the network. The Tonight Show currently occupies the 11.30pm slot.

The January 13 premiere of Our Little Genius has been delayed, Fox has announced. According to a written statement by producer Mark Burnett, certain details were relayed to contestants during the reality gameshow's pre-production which caused an "issue". Burnett said that he was not "comfortable" with delivering the episodes to the network without reshooting them. "I believe my series must always be beyond reproach, so I have requested that Fox not air these episodes," he stated. Fox is backing Burnett's decision, adding: "We respect and appreciate his due diligence and the decision to pull these episodes. We agree there can be no question about the integrity of our shows." The network will allow the families who participated in the cut episodes to keep their winnings. Fox will fill the January 13 timeslot with a rebroadcast of The Simpsons' 450th episode.

NBC has responded to the press speculation regarding Conan O'Brien's future with the broadcaster. In a statement released today, NBC said that it remains committed to the Tonight Show host, who started his run on the network as the host of Late Night in 1993. It said: "We remain committed to keeping Conan O'Brien on NBC. He is a valued part of our late-night lineup, as he has been for more than 16 years and is one of the most respected entertainers on television." Claims about O'Brien's place with NBC began soon after it was reported that The Jay Leno Show is moving to O'Brien's 11.30pm ET timeslot. No announcement concerning The Tonight Show's future timeslot has been made.

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Joe Torre is to appear on an upcoming episode of Castle. Torre will make a cameo on the February 8 episode of the ABC crime procedural, according to Entertainment Weekly. The baseball legend will cross paths with Nathan Fillion's Richard Castle, who gets starstruck when meeting him. Reaper actor Ray Wise will also star in the episode.

Adam Lambert has played down speculation that he will cameo in a future episode of Glee. Recent reports had suggested that the 'For Your Entertainment' singer had been lined up for an appearance in the hit Fox comedy. However, writing on his Twitter account, he said: "Glee guest star rumour: it's a rumour. Sorry guys." The former American Idol star went on to confirm reports that he would appear on The Oprah Winfrey Show and has recorded five tracks for AOL Sessions. He added: "If I had to pick a show to guest star on I'd loooooooove to be on True Blood. Or Weeds. Those shows are amazing. Prob need some major acting classes though first. The casts of both those shows are first rate. "I'd love to be on Gossip Girl too! Leighton is amazing. I should be Blair's shopping buddy!"

Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford, Cameron Diaz and Jodie Foster have been added to the lineup of presenters for the 67th annual Golden Globe Awards, says ET Online. The trio will join previously announced presenters including Halle Berry, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston and Mickey Rourke at the ceremony later this month. Other stars including Christina Aguilera, Tom Hanks and Neil Patrick Harris will also hand out prizes. Robert DeNiro and Leonardo DiCaprio are scheduled to present a special honour to director Martin Scorsese. The 67th annual Golden Globe Awards, hosted by Ricky Gervais, will take place in Los Angeles on January 17.

Morgan Spurlock has explained that the title of his upcoming anniversary Simpsons documentary should not be taken literally. The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special in 3D on Ice airs in the US on January 14 to mark the landmark year for the animated series. Spurlock told Parade of the title: "I came up with it and Matt Groening said, 'That's funny, but is any of it going to be in 3D on ice?'. "I was like, 'Maybe'. Now, I can say it's possible you'll see something on ice, so watch for it. As for 3D, that's pretty expensive. Just ask Jim Cameron." Of making the documentary, he continued: "The Simpsons is so big, it's a monster. I was like, 'How do you even begin to cover this?'. "We started with this idea of the prism through which the world has seen The Simpsons, and how it's affected people in so many countries." He added: "The producers said, 'We don't really want this to be a pat on the back kind of special'. "I was really glad, because I envisioned putting them on a pedestal and then kicking the pedestal over. And that's sort of what we did."

Fox is plotting a crossover between Glee and The Cleveland Show later this year, says TV Guide. The cast of the musical comedy will reportedly get an animated makeover for an appearance on the Family Guy spinoff. Lea Michelle, who plays Glee's Rachel, said of the crossover: "It was awesome to do. I'm a huge Cleveland Show fan and I've been literally stalking them to let me come on." Her co-star Chris Colfer (Kurt) added: "All Kurt says is 'Marc Jacobs' and 'Broadway', because that's all Kurt knows." The Cleveland Show continues Sundays at 9.30pm on Fox. Glee returns Wednesday, April 13.

Sean Faris has started filming for his role on The Vampire Diaries, Nina Dobrev has confirmed. Last year, it was announced that Faris would be joining the cast for a multi-episode arc as Ben, an ex-high school football star who is friends with Matt. He is said to become involved with the main cast when Matt takes a job at Mystic Grill, where Ben is also working. Writing on her Twitter, Dobrev, who plays Elena and Katherine on the vampire series, said: "On set with Sean Faris - pretty intense day- he's really cool cat!" The Vampire Diaries resumes Thursday, January 21 on The CW.

Neal McDonough has teased that he may reprise his Desperate Housewives role. His character Dave was last seen in the season five finale when he tried to kill Susan Delfino and her son MJ as revenge for a car accident which claimed the lives of his wife and daughter years earlier. Dave went on to marry Nicolette Sheridan's Edie, who was killed off when she ran away from Dave after discovering his wrongdoings, only to crash her car into an electricity pole. Asked by the Boston Herald if he may reprise his role on the ABC series, he coyly replied: "I can't say."

Ryan O'Neal has joined the cast of 90210, it has been confirmed. The 68-year-old actor has landed the role of Teddy's father, who has been referenced several times on the CW series as "a really famous actor". Teddy - played by Trevor Donovan - has emerged as a central figure in the show's second season after becoming briefly involved with his ex-girlfriend Adrianna Tate-Duncan. According to Access Hollywood, O'Neal, who was engaged to the late Farrah Fawcett, is due to begin filming his scenes in April.

How I Met Your Mother star Alyson Hannigan has reportedly claimed that she would love Jennifer Aniston to cameo in the show.
The actress, who plays Lily in the CBS sitcom, has named the former Friends star as her ideal guest. Speaking to Extra, she joked: "I'm going to put that out there!" Co-star Colbie Smulders (Robin) added: "If Meryl's free, that'd be nice! I love having guest stars, but I love when they cast people who are up-and-coming and need a break." It was recently confirmed that Carrie Underwood will guest star in an upcoming episode playing a pharmaceutical sales representative who is a love interest for Ted (Josh Radnor). How I Met Your Mother will mark its 100th episode on January 11 with a musical tribute featuring the cast singing.

Two And A Half Men and The Big Bang Theory continue to make up the 9pm hour, and CSI: Miami fills the 10pm slot. Effective Wednesday, March 31, The New Adventures Of Old Christine will be paired with Accidentally On Purpose at 8pm, while Criminal Minds and CSI: New York occupy the 9pm and 10pm hours. Ghost Whisperer and Medium continue to air at 8pm and 9pm respectively on Fridays, with Jerry Bruckheimer's Miami Medical making its series debut April 2.

James Kyson Lee has revealed that Heroes fans may see a wedding between two of the show's characters. Earlier in season four, Lee's character Ando became engaged to Hiro's sister Kimiko after Hiro went back in time to ensure the pair would become romantically involved. Speaking to Digital Spy, Lee teased that Ando and Kimiko's wedding may feature as part of the season four finale. "It might be a fun way to end the season - or maybe we'll see it next year," he said. "It's funny - I almost felt like they were destined to be together but it's always awkward marrying your best friend's sister! "I feel like it opens up doors for some more complications." He added of the plot: "We were talking about the wedding, and I was thinking it might be good if all the people who have left the show before turn up at my wedding! I thought that would be really fun."

Miley Cyrus is allegedly preparing to leave her hit Disney show Hannah Montana. According to the New York Post, a representative for the network confirmed that it is scheduled to shoot the fourth and final season from January 18. "You never know in this business... but right now we're scheduled to wrap after shooting this new batch of episodes," said Adam Bonnett, the channel's senior vice-president of programming. Bonnett is quoted as saying that the fourth season will premiere in late spring but that there will be enough new episodes to last until 2011. A spokesperson for Cyrus reportedly confirmed the news to Access Hollywood.

True Blood creator Alan Ball has revealed details about the upcoming romance plot involving Sookie and new werewolf Alcide. Ball said that fans of Sookie (Anna Paquin) and Bill's (Stephen Moyer) relationship will eventually be won over by Alcide, played by Joe Manganiello. He told Entertainment Weekly: "We were looking for a guy who was big, sexy, decent and heroic, with some darkness. And showed us all of that in the audition." Of the Sookie and Alcide story, he continued: "As in the book, he's helping her find Bill and he has a business reason for owing Eric a favour. He's there with her during a very painful time in her life - and his life, actually. And they're thrown into some pretty intense situations together." Ball added: "And hello, he's hot! And hello, so is she. Two hot people in some intense situations and, for whatever reasons, their significant others are not there... they're human."

Bob Saget has been muscling up for his new reality show. According to People, the How I Met Your Mother narrator will be exploring various bizarre subcultures around the world for A&E series Bob Saget's Strange Days. "It's me studying subcultures that are strange," Saget said. "It's funny and it's weird. But it's me being me. It's trying to be real." The former Full House star will subject himself to a survivalist cult preparing for the end of the world and various other tribes, rituals and rites of passage. "I went to Ukraine and I got guys' mail order brides and I'll do a frat rush. I'll do burning man," he continued. The comedian added: "I've just got to get in physical and mental shape and just kind of clean the old instrument. I've been working out. I did many crunches today they're not showing yet!"

An ex-adviser to Michael Jackson has taken legal action against Fox News for copyright infringement. According to The AP, producer F. Marc Shaffel is seeking damages after the network aired a 2003 interview with Jackson's ex-wife Debbie Rowe, following the singer's death in June, without proper payment or permission. Schaffel, who once won a judgement against Jackson himself, owns the rights to the piece, which was intended to balance an earlier interview that damaged the late star's reputation at the time. A spokesman for Fox News said that the channel does not comment on pending litigation. The lawsuit states that the network claimed a "fair use" right to air the footage as part of news programming. The filing chides Fox News, alleging: "Fox sanctimoniously operates unencumbered by the very copyright restrictions it seeks to impose on its competitors."

The White House has pledged not to disrupt the season premiere of Lost with President Barack Obama's State of the Union address. February 2, the night Lost is scheduled to return to ABC, was reportedly one of the dates the White House was considering for the president's televised speech. On Friday, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said that the annual speech has not been officially scheduled, but will not air on Tuesday, February 2, reports The AP. "I don't foresee a scenario in which the millions of people that hope to finally get some conclusion in Lost are pre-empted by the president," Gibbs said at a press briefing. ABC is devoting three hours to the evening in question to the premiere of the show's final season.

Showtime has picked up cancer drama The Big C for 13 episodes. The series stars Laura Linney as a suburban mother whose life is changed forever when she learns that she has cancer, says The Hollywood Reporter. "The character and her journey are complex, requiring layered nuances of comedy and drama which I believe no-one else could do better than Laura," said Showtime president of entertainment Robert Greenblatt. Linney will also serve as executive producer for the programme, originally titled The C-Word, which debuts in the fall. Oliver Platt is to co-star.

Melinda Clarke has reportedly signed up to appear in The Vampire Diaries. Entertainment Weekly says that the actress has agreed to play Kelly Donovan, Matt's absentee mother. Clarke, who played Julie Cooper in The O.C., will reportedly appear in at least three episodes in March. The Vampire Diaries resumes January 21 on The CW.

Gabourey Sidibe will star alongside Laura Linney in new show The Big C, reports say. The drama follows a school teacher, played by Linney, who finds out that she has cancer. According to Access Hollywood, Sidibe will appear in the show as Andrea, one of Linney's students. Oliver Platt will also star in the show, which was recently picked up by Showtime. It is due to debut later this year.

The Fox network has reportedly expressed an interest in acquiring Conan O'Brien. According to Perez Hilton, after the announcement that The Jay Leno Show would be moving to O'Brien's 11.30pm ET timeslot, NBC released a statement declaring their commitment to keeping O'Brien on the peacock network. A source at Fox has said that the network is "always interested in late night" and are always "looking to bring great talent to Fox". According to reports, O'Brien will not be able to strike a deal with Fox or any other network until NBC releases the talkshow host from his contract.

The Jay Leno Show has reportedly been cancelled, according to NBC. The network announced on Sunday morning that the chatshow would not be renewed for a second round. NBC Universal TV chairman Jeff Gaspin said: "I can confirm that starting February 12, Jay Leno will no longer air at 10pm. "My goal right now is to keep Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien and Jimmy Fallon as part of our late-night lineup. As much as I'd like to tell you we have a done deal, we know that's not true." The peacock network has reportedly placed the blame on the cancellation on "affiliates". Gaspin expects to fill Leno's 10pm EST timeslot with "two hours of scripted, another reality hour and combination of expanded Dateline or repeats".

NBC has described the chances of Heroes returning for a fifth season as "very good". The series, which recently dropped to a low of 4.57m, has been widely tipped for the axe. However, speaking at the TV Critics Association press tour, the network's president Angela Bromstad revealed that the show's creator Tim Kring will be pitching his ideas for a new season in the coming weeks and she believes it stands a decent chance of coming back. Production on the fourth season of Heroes recently wrapped, meaning that the February 8 season finale may serve as a series finale if NBC does decide to end it.

Ugly Betty made a poor debut in its new Wednesday night slot, the latest viewing figures show. The 10pm screening of the latest episode drew 5.08m, just beating its previous episode, which aired Friday, December 11 at 9pm and pulled in 4.8m. Earlier on ABC, The Middle grabbed 7.86m at 8pm, then Modern Family and Cougar Town took 10.22m and 7.92m during the 9pm hour. Over on CBS, I Get That A Lot had 8.5m at 8pm, then 10.74m tuned in for People's Choice Awards between 9pm and 11pm. NBC's Mercy was seen by 7.3m during the 8pm hour, then Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and The Jay Leno Show attracted 10.83m and 5.13m at 9pm and 10pm respectively. Two reruns of Glee put in 3.39m and 3.36m for Fox at 8pm and 9pm, while The CW's repeats of One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl managed 895k and 487k.

The BCS Championship game performed well for ABC Thursday night, the latest viewing figures show. Alabama's game against Texas averaged 30m for the Alphabet network between 8.30pm and 11pm, easily beatings its rivals. The only other piece of original programming, NBC's The Jay Leno Show, grabbed 4.58m during the 10pm hour. Earlier on NBC, Community and Parks and Recreation had 4.51m and 3.21m during the 8pm hour, then The Office and 30 Rock managed 3.93m and 3.77m at 9pm. Over on CBS, a double bill of CSI took 9.4m and 10.41m at 8pm and 9pm, then The Mentalist had 10.99m at 10pm. Bones and Fringe put in 5.98m and 3.1m at 8pm and 9pm respectively for Fox, while The CW's Vampire Diaries and Supernatural drew 1.78m and 1.53m.

The latest instalment of Dollhouse failed to perform well for Fox, viewing figures show. Friday's episode, titled 'Getting Closer', managed 2.38m, beating the last offering, which logged a lowly 2m in December. A Bones repeat, which aired at 8pm, managed over twice the viewing figures of Dollhouse, putting in 4.97m. Over on CBS, Ghost Whisperer attracted 9m during the 8pm hour, 8.93m watched Medium at 9pm, and the 10pm Numb3rs took 9.32m. ABC's Supernanny managed 4.26m at 8pm, then 3.96m tuned in for Shark Tank at 9pm. 20/20 followed at 10pm, bringing in 7.81m. Two episodes of Dateline logged 7.55m and 10.35m for NBC at 8pm and 9pm, then The Jay Leno Show was seen by 5.78m at 10pm. A double bill of Smallville reruns averaged 1.52m for The CW between 8pm and 10pm.

Mel B has been unveiled as the host of Oxygen's next edition of Dance Your Ass Off. The cable network also announced that the show will air in a new Monday night slot when it returns in the summer. "After the birth of my second daughter, I wanted to find a fun and effective way to drop the pounds and get back in shape," Mel B said. "I learned firsthand that dancing was the key to shedding off the pounds and keeping them off." Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood will serve as a lead-in for the new season. Mel B was recently tipped to join the judging panel on ITV1's The X Factor in the UK, but has insisted that she "can't talk" about the rumours.

NBC has unveiled six new pilots for its 2010/11 television season. The network had originally scaled back its drama series genre this season to make way for The Jay Leno Show, which it stripped across the week in a 10pm slot. However, it was announced yesterday that Leno has been cancelled. NBC later said it wanted to keep the talkshow host a part of its late-night lineup. Its new orders include Kindreds, which centres around a group of misfits associates who form a law practice; Prime Suspect, which focuses on a female detective in a big city; and Rockford Files, from Steve Carrell's Carousel Productions. Completely the lineup are The Event, a story about a large government conspiracy; Jerry Bruckheimer's Chase; and Love Bits, which is executive produced by Chupack. NBC has previously ordered JJ Abrams drama Undercovers and the David Tennant-fronted Rex Is Not Your Lawyer. Its pilot order is expected to reach at least ten.

NBC has reduced Day One to a two-hour movie, it has been announced. The show was originally eyed as a 13-episode series, which the network's president Angela Bromstad later declared as a one-season show. She said at the time: "We've always looked at Day One as a big event for us and not necessarily a show that would be an ongoing, returning show for a second season." In October 2009, it emerged that NBC had cut the order for the sci-fi thriller further, this time opting to air it as a four-part miniseries. However, NBC has shot just two hours of the drama, which is all it plans to air unless it performs well.
